Bob Cook
and his father Stephen joined in partnership to establish Henry County
Farm and Tire Supply serving as a Massey-Ferguson dealer. By the
early 1960’s Bob began holding an annual auction to liquidate his used
equipment trade ins. During the 1970’s his three oldest sons Ron,
John, and Jim entered into the business as partners. In 1973 the
contract with Massey-Ferguson was not renewed. This allowed them to
deal primarily in used equipment, new parts, used parts, and rebuilt
parts. The 1980’s saw the addition of three other partners, their
sister Linda Christy, and brothers Greg and Stanley. |
In 1988
they changed their name to Cook Tractor Co., Inc. and moved to their
present location on Highway 7 in Clinton, Missouri. The new location
enabled them to hold a monthly consignment auction and gave them space
for expanding their inventory of tractor and combine parts. In 1990
Bob located property in Germantown Illinois that would be ideal for a
franchise store. With a need in the area for a new and used parts
dealer, Greg moved his family to Illinois. The Germantown store
opened in the fall of 1991 and by 1995 another brother Carl joined
him.
